About FlyHylas
I’m Mark, the pilot and maker behind FlyHylas — a creative drone service built on equal parts precision, curiosity, and craft. I specialize in cinematic drone filming, FPV fly‑throughs, and construction‑focused aerial work.
What really sets me apart is how I approach every project: I look for the details others overlook. Whether I’m threading an FPV quad through a tight interior space or capturing a clean orthomosaic for a 100‑acre site, I’m always searching for the perspective that reveals something meaningful.
Technology has always been a career because of my obsession with tinkering. I earned an Associate’s in Computer Information Technology in 2004, followed by 15 years deep in the tech world — earning certifications in A+, Network+, and Security+, running Linux systems, and eventually building my own managed IT services company that supported small businesses for over seven years. When the thrill of figuring things out started taking a back seat to the routine, I knew it was time for the next chapter.
That chapter turned out to be several fixations along the XYZ axes, in the forms of both piloting drones and operating a CNC. In 2019, I went back to school for Geographic Information Technology with a focus on cartography and drone technology, graduating from CNM in Albuquerque with dual majors and earning my FAA Part 107 in 2021.
Today, FlyHylas is where all of it comes together; the tech background, the 3D maps, the data, and a genuine love for pushing what's possible from the air. From cinematic FPV flights and immersive indoor walkthroughs to precision orthomosaics and photogrammetry data, every project is driven by curiosity and a desire to deliver something truly above the rest.
I’m currently training in FPV acro flight, and when I’m not flying, I’m working toward my FCC amateur radio license.
